1. Unbox
Be gentle with the moving parts especially with the joystick.
2. Power
Power this Product with the included cable and 12V/2.5A power adapter. Don´t forget to switch the physical on/off button to the position 1:
3. Select Serial or IP connection
Use the NET button to toggle between the IP and Serial (RS-232) modes, as detailed below.
(Note that the RS485 port is where there is a green 5-pin Phoenix connector)
3a. Connect and control an Avonic PTZ camera over SERIAL (VISCA):
Be sure that the current protocol is "Visca Over Serial" as reconfirmed on the LCD panel below. If not, toggle the NET button.
The standard Visca addressing for an Avonic PTZ cameras is "1" with 9600 Baud rate (If necessary recheck the camera visca address number and the Baud rate in the camera web GUI > SYSTEM tab > Serial Settings)
Use the supplied RJ45 to Mini DIN-8 serial cable (below) to connect an Avonic PTZ camera (RS232 IN port) to the first serial (RJ45) connector 'CH1' at the back of the controller.
If the corresponding [CH1] button is chosen on the controller, the camera will respond immediately to the Pan, Tilt and Zoom operations controlled by the joystick of the CON300-IP (In addition, the Zoom Rocker Button can be used at the same time, and the joystick button sends the camera to its HOME position)
3b. Connect and control an Avonic PTZ camera over IP (VISCA OVER IP):
Be sure that the current protocol is "Visca Over IP" as reconfirmed on the LCD panel below. If not, toggle the NET button.
Here, the addressing is done via IP, the Visca address in a visca over ip environment is always 1.
First, connect the LAN port of the controller with a network cable to the camera RJ45/LAN Ethernet port or to a switch in case to have to control several cameras.
First step would be to assign an IP address to the CON300-IP (Press the [MENU] button, Select ‘Ethernet’ tab, choose DHCP or enter a specific IP address available in the network, a Subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0) and optionally a Gateway. Don't forget to reboot the controller for the changes to take effect!).
Once the controller ethernet settings configured, you can now assign an IP camera to the Avonic CON300-IP (Press the [MENU] button, choose the 'Visca over IP' tab, then "Add new Customer Address", enter compatibility mode "Standard", transport protocol "TCP", port number "1259" and the IP address of the camera).
Close the menu (by pressing few times the [MENU] button or by pushing few times the joystick on the left).
Press the [ADDR] button on the left side of the controller to list all the cameras on the LCD display,
with the joystick (UP/DOWN) choose the camera that you wish to control . As example:
How to select an IP camera to control it in the Avonic CON300-IP
There are 2 methods to select and control an IP camera in the Avonic CON300-IP :
(If needed, see first How to assign an IP camera to the Avonic CON300-IP)
1-Press the [ADDR] button on the left side of the controller to list all the cameras on the LCD display (pic on the left) and with the joystick choose the camera that you wish to control.
Now you can control it with the PTZ joystick! and start to play with the Manual/Automatic Focus, PTZ Speed, etc…
2-Second method would be to use the shortcut CH1~CH5 select camera buttons:
But prior to this you need first to assign a camera per channel button: Press the [MENU] button, select 'Visca over IP', then "Assign IP Channels”, select one of the channels (CH1, CH2,..) and then assign it one of the camera within the given list. Press few times the [MENU] button (or push the joystick to the left few times) to exit the menu, this will save the changes. Now you can choose the camera that you want to control directly from its assigned shortcuts button.
Notes:
- A camera cannot be assigned to several button channels at same time.
- If no specific camera has been assigned to a shortcut button, the IP address shown would the broadcast one 255.255.255.255 (talking to ALL the cameras in the network)
