How to Play Back on the REC200

(Video in English, French and Spanish)

In the Play Back tab (REC200 Web Gui) you can configure the settings in order to play back video as a stream. It works the same as streaming and recording, but in this case you can choose the files to be played back.

How to reset the REC200

There are 3 ways to reset the REC200 back to default settings

1- The most recommended method is from the RESET button on the front left side of the REC200 (press it for 10s and the device will reboot with the default Factory Settings):

rec200 reset button

2- from the web GUI (all will be restored excepted the REC200 ethernet configuration):

Open the device's web GUI (instructions below) and go to SYSTEM SETTINGS tab to click the Factory Settings button at the bottom of the page:

System operation tab

A pop-up window will ask you to reboot, click OK

The reset will make the device reboot and be restored back to its default settings (with the exception of the ethernet configuration which has to be modified directly in the Network section in the System Setting tab)

* Web Gui

  • Open a webbrowser and enter the default ip address of the REC200 (see below). The browser will connect to the unit. (Make sure that the ip address of your computer has been put in the same subnet range of the REC200, otherwise the REC200 is not able to connect to your local network or computer. For a detailed guide how to set up your PC to access a device in another subnet, have a look here)
  • A login page will appear. Fill in the default Username and Password (Default IP address is 192.168.1.100. Default Username and Password are admin / admin

3-Another way would be from the buttons available on the REC200 front panel: System > Recovery > Yes as confirmed below :

Navegation

Note that the device needs a hard reboot (unplugging it for several seconds) if you wish to open its web GUI on his default IP address 192.168.1.100 (if previously to the reset it had another IP address)

How to upload REC200 recordings by FTP on Filezilla

In this example below we are going to upload by FTP a recording stored in the REC200 to the Filezilla server installed on a PC (placed in the same network and IP range than the REC200)

FILEZILLA SERVER

First of all, download and install the Filezilla server from https://filezilla-project.org/

Open it (by default it will take the 127.0.0.1 loopback IP address and its administration port 14148, leave them like this and click OK):

filezilla server

From the interface menu, click on Server > Configure and in the Settings windows go to Users tab to create a user (with/without password, under or not of a group) with Read and Write permissions as in this example:

Filezilla Server user configuration

Don't forget to specify the virtual path (/) and a native path (e.g. C:/FTP as above) of the ftp folder that will receive the uploads.

* As test, you can also install Filezilla Client to send some files (e.g. a text file as below) to your Filezilla Server using the same loopback IP address above or your PC IP address and your FTP user credentials, as example:

Filezilla Client

REC200

Below in the REC200 web GUI (Record/FTP Upload Setting tab) we are simply following the FTP instructions available in the user manual (Page 26):

- Upload path (FTP://IP-ADDRESS on standard port 21, If you prefer to use another port use the following format: FTP://IP-Address:PORT)

- FTP Username

- FTP Password. Don't forget to click on APPLY everytime you make a change in the settings.

(Note that the 192.168.1.199 is the IP address of my PC when runs the Filezilla server)

Select the file(s) that you want to upload and click START UPLOADING

REC200

(If the REC200 keeps trying to upload the file, be sure that the Filezilla server is enabled -click the "Start FileZilla Server" shortcut on the Desktop for instance-)

If successful you get that confirmation pop-up window :

REC200 OK

You can also recheck that the file has been correctly uploaded into your FTP folder, as example:

Windows

Many issues can arise like related with configuration, communication ("ftp fail:ftpput: can't connect to remote host"), permissions ("ftp fail:ftpput: unexpected server response to STOR: 550 Permission denied"), etc .. the type/number of error received may give a clue about what's wrong

In some cases it may be also useful to disable temporarly the firewall to see if it can cause some issues (FTP port not open etc)
