Getting Started
This introductory section highlights critical steps to help prevent installation problems and to get your Avonic CM93 camera running quickly. Full procedures are provided in the chapters below.
- Only handle the camera by its base and do not move the lens or PTZ head by hand (see Handling Precautions).
- Before unboxing, verify that the outer box and plastic camera bag are sealed. If not, stop and contact Avonic.
- Mount the camera on a stable surface or use official Avonic accessories before connecting any cables.
- Power the camera via PoE (IEEE 802.3at) or the supplied 12 V adapter, and set the physical power switch on the rear to ON, even when using PoE.
- For the first network connection, configure your computer on the same subnet as the camera’s default IP address 192.168.5.163.

Port Layout Diagram
The diagram below shows the physical layout of the ports.
Power On
After switching the power ON, the camera initialises by rotating pan/tilt to the maximum top‑right position and then to the centre. If position preset 0 has been stored, this position will be recalled after initialisation. The current IR‑channel setting and IP address are shown on the OSD menu. A blinking red LED indicates the boot process; when it stops blinking, the camera is ready. If the camera is shut down digitally, the PTZ head enters privacy mode.
Connect Cables
- Connect a CAT6a cable to the Ethernet port of the camera and to a (PoE) network switch. If you use a non‑PoE switch, also connect the power adapter and set the rear power switch to ON.
- Connect an HDMI or SDI cable to the camera and to a monitor or switcher.
- Ensure your computer is configured on the same subnet as the default IP address 192.168.5.163 (see Getting Started).
HDMI / SDI Output
Connect HDMI or SDI to a supported device. HDMI supports up to 2160p60; SDI supports up to 1080p60. Adjust output resolution via the WebGUI or the System Select switch.

USB Output
Enable USB output in the OSD (OSD → Camera → Choose Stream → USB). A splash screen appears if USB is not selected. Image quality depends on the software used on the connected computer.
Connecting a Controller to a Camera
You can connect one or more cameras to a VISCA (serial) controller. A controller provides direct access to core functions (pan, tilt, zoom, focus, white balance). Additional settings can be accessed in the OSD using the controller.
